A confirmed slow slab leak with no visible surface water can typically wait a few days for scheduled detection and repair. Any of the signs above — visible water, buckling floors, or a foundation-adjacent puddle — should move you to same-week or same-day service instead.

What to do meanwhile

If the leak is on the hot side, shutting off the water heater's cold inlet valve can stop the loss while keeping cold water available elsewhere in the house. If you can't tell which side, shutting the main between uses limits waste and slab erosion until a detection company can pinpoint the line.
